Dental Bridges

You may only have one or two missing or damaged teeth. Even so, this situation can make you feel self-conscious or uncomfortable in social settings or while at work. If you have been hiding or compensating for missing teeth when you eat, speak or smile, call 818-347-1550 today to make an appointment for a dental bridge in Woodland Hills, California, with our dentist, Dr. Kathy Daroee, at Kathy Cosmetic Dentistry.

Even a single missing tooth can make life complicated. You may not be interested in a partial denture or in the surgery needed for dental implants. You might find a compromise with a dental bridge. This is an excellent replacement option for a single tooth or two or more teeth adjacent to one another. A bridge is a non-removable tooth replacement that is held in place by crowns on each end of the space in your smile. A bridge can restore your ability to eat and speak effectively, keep your remaining teeth in place and enhance your appearance. You do not remove a bridge to clean it and it can be brushed just like your natural teeth and Dr. Daroee can explain the best way to floss it. With the proper care your bridge can last for up to ten years.

Dental Bridges FAQ

What is a dental bridge?

Dental bridges are a type of fixed (non-removable) restoration. They are used to replace one or two missing teeth and are anchored in place through the use of dental crowns on either side of the prosthetic teeth. A dental bridge may also be anchored in place with a dental implant.

How can a dental bridge benefit me?

Dental bridges hold the artificial tooth or teeth in place to restore your smile, ensuring that your restoration will not shift or come loose. Bridges can also:

  • Restore your ability to eat and speak normally
  • Alleviate excess stress on your bite
  • Support the shape and volume of your face
  • Replace removable partial dentures
  • Prevent your remaining teeth from shifting out of place

How long does it take to get a dental bridge?

It typically takes two appointments to complete a dental bridge. At the first appointment, impressions are taken and the teeth to either side of the gap are prepared to receive crowns. The impressions are sent to a lab where your bridge will be manufactured. At the second appointment (usually about a week after the first), we will check that your bridge fits properly before bonding it into place.
